Hot as Hell (Studs in Scrubs Book 1) Read online

Cassie couldn’t believe she had given in so easily to this incredible craving, but could she deny him? Did she want to resist him? Not on her life.

That was why his presence was so dangerous.

He pressed his knee between her legs, parting them so he could settle his groin at the apex of her thighs. His rock-solid zipper pressed her pubic bone. Gyrating her hips, she brushed her body against the cradle of his thighs and smiled as he released a deep moan. Erotic, mystical heat flowed between them. She could only feel, not think. His kiss turned slow, their tongues dueling.

He pulled back, looking down at her with a wild desire before he dipped his head and licked her neck, raising every follicle on her body. She moaned when his touch stopped, but whimpered when he dragged the neck of her blouse lower, exposing one lace-covered breast. He rolled his tongue along the hardened nipple through the fabric.

She was pressed somewhere between the desk and heaven as he moved his body in short circles against hers. Sliding her palms upward on his broad chest, she grasped the cotton of his shirt as he skillfully suckled her breast. As she ground her body against his, she was growing closer to climax, needing more from him.

Bringing his head back up, he kissed her, tangling his tongue with hers. The kiss made every part of her tingle. His breathing was hard, coming in heavy pants, his eyes lit with an abandoned need she’d never seen before.

With a growl, he turned her around and bent her over the edge of the desk. He dragged up the hem of her skirt high on her hips and with one jerk along with ripping sounds of delicate lace, he tore her thong from her body. His hand palmed her pussy, sliding his wide fingers over her slit, circling her clit. Wanting more, she spread her legs wide, lifting her bottom high, giving him better access to her most sensitive parts.

“Damn. You’re incredible,” he whispered next to her ear.

With a whimper, she ground her bottom against him, hoping he received the message loud and clear. He sank his fingers between the velvety folds of her center, caressing and massaging the quivering flesh. His slow rubbing action had her sinking into an intoxicating cloud. Her blood heated and she was drunk with need. Then he withdrew.

  “Don’t stop,” she begged.

She heard the faint sound of his zipper lowering and then his hand was back rubbing her clit, more circular motions that had her hips rotating.

“Tell me what you want, baby,” he urged.

“You. I want you.” She breathed out.

He slid one finger into her passage, finding her G-spot. She squirmed and whimpered. He caressed her bundle of nerves with such skill.

“No one has touched this delicious pussy since me, right?”

She wrapped her brain around his words. “No. Of course not.”

His touch lightened, he thrust two fingers in and out of her, bringing her closer to release.

Her muscles were taut as she rode his fingers, rolling her hips as she grew wetter.

He moved his hand and then the head of his thick cock was at her center. He polished his head along her slick lips, getting himself nice and wet before he pressed her opening, slowly easing into her, allowing her muscles to adjust to his size. Impatient, she lifted her bottom and pushed back upon his shaft, loving how his size stretched her. Once he was deep inside, he took on a fast rhythm, as if knowing they could be interrupted at any moment.

His finger on her clit along with the fast pounding action sent her over the edge in record time. She arched her back as the flood of overwhelming heat engulfed her, making her bones jelly. His breathing grew ragged and his body tight, and then he bent over her, burying his head in her shoulder as he too found release. She could hear the heavy pounding of his heart.

He pulled out and they each fumbled with their clothing, seconds before a knock came on the door. Her heart beat was barely coming back to normal when it kicked up in speed again at the intrusion. Reality slammed into her. There was no logical way around not answering because the person on the other side would guess what they’d been doing.

Sam must have understood her urgency. He grabbed up her torn panties and stuck them into his pocket before strolling across the room, not looking the least bit frazzled. How did he do that when she felt like her every fiber had come unraveled. Giving her hair a quick finger comb, she dropped down into her chair. “Come in.” Thankfully, her voice sounded fine.

Bryan opened the door, stepped in and looked from her to Sam and back at her. She couldn’t tell if he suspected anything.

  “Yes?” she asked.

“Sorry. I didn’t know you still had company. You have a meeting with the council in five minutes.”

“Thank you, Bryan.” She wasn’t sure how she would get through the next few hours, but she had no choice but to put on her mayoral hat and continue with his dripping ejaculation between her legs.

No surprise that Sam had been in town for a week and hadn’t seen Cassie, not even by chance. She was avoiding him and probably living with fifty shades of regret over what they’d shared in her office. He didn’t know what chains held her, but he would certainly find out. Hopefully tonight. She would be at the charity gala, he was certain.

“Are you ready for the social event of the year here in Oakland, Doctor Saxour?” the perky receptionist asked as he stepped out of his office.

“Yes, Shelby, I think I am.” His mind randomly shifted back to Cassie. When was he not thinking of her?

The pretty young woman with long blonde curls smiled at him. Since he’d hired her several days ago, he’d gotten the feeling that she was flirting with him in a subtle, but obvious way, but he didn’t respond, nor did he plan to. He never mixed business with pleasure. And he had one woman on his mind and he planned to touch her again. Masturbating wasn’t cutting it.

“Have a good time.” Shelby waved as he bid her goodnight and stepped out into the breezy evening air and strolled to his new BMW parked on the street. A part of him wanted to throw caution to the wind, call Cassie and ask if he could pick her up, but he already guessed what her answer would be. She’d turn him down flat.

He stopped at his apartment and mazed his way through the still packed boxes the movers had delivered several days ago, into the bathroom where he showered and trimmed his week-old beard. He liked the new look.

He was glad he had remembered to have his tux ironed out at the cleaners as he dressed.

Grabbing a quick glance of himself in the mirror above the bathroom sink, he left and was on his way to the historical downtown theater which was the reason why the town had the annual gala, at least what he’d read in the local paper. All proceeds went to help maintain the theater. He had a sizable check he planned to add to the pot because he appreciated the arts—and a town that saw the benefits of heater.

On the bottom floor was the theater where big names like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams had played. Although Sam found the historical site pleasurable, he had one thought on his mind tonight and that was to see Cassie.

  “You look amazing, mom.”

Cassie looked through her vanity mirror at her fifteen-year-old daughter, Annabelle, who was standing in the doorway. Cassie turned and cast a smile to her. “Thank you, Anna.” She couldn’t believe how much her daughter looked like herself at the same age.

Her daughter ran into the room and jumped on the bed, bouncing and laughing, just as she had done since she was a toddler. She sat up and sighed. “I want you to be happy, mom.”

Cassie narrowed her gaze. “I am happy. What brought this on?”

Shrugging a slender shoulder, Anna crisscrossed her legs and nailed Cassie with a skeptical look. “I don’t think you’ve been happy since dad left. It makes me angry that he packed up his clothes, and your happiness, then he took off.”

Swallowing against the lump in her throat, Cassie took a seat beside Anna. Threading her fingers through her daughter’s long, dark hair, Cassie chuckled. “First, your dad didn’t take my hap
piness when he left. Sure, there was some adjusting to do. Taking apart a twenty-year marriage doesn’t happen overnight, but the demise of our relationship wasn’t all his fault.”

Anna snorted. “Sure. You don’t think Perky-Susan had anything to do with it?”

“Well, sure, your dad dating one of his college students didn’t help our relationship, but we were over long before he cheated. I just missed the cues.” There was so much Cassie could say, but she decided smearing Steven’s name wasn’t how she wanted to live her life.

“So then, why has he moved on and you’re still stuck?”

“Stuck? What do you mean?” There was a long hesitation. “It’s okay, Anna. You can be honest. I want you to open up about what’s bothering you.”

“You haven’t been on one date. I can’t believe you even went on a vacation as a fortieth birthday gift to yourself. I bet you sat in your room the entire time eating chocolate and reading a steamy novel.”

Cassie snickered. “No, I did a few other things.” If only her daughter knew, but no way in hell would Cassie tell her. “And you should know that you’re my top priority. I love our family.”

“I do too, mom, but I don’t want to be the reason why you don’t date. If the chance arises you should take it. I don’t want you sitting around here reading every night.”

Cassie’s heart skipped a beat. She hugged her daughter’s shoulders tightly. “Don’t worry about me, sweetheart. Let me worry about the important things.” She stood and checked herself in the full-length mirror. “Are you sure the red isn’t too flashy? I can’t believe I actually bought this for myself.”

Anna laughed and jumped up from the bed. “No, it’s beautiful, and this…” she encircled the air in front of Cassie’s chest, “is the icing on the cake. You have a nice rack and you should show it off more.”

  “Annabelle Michon!”

  “What?”

Cassie smoothed her hands down the fabric of the ankle length dress. “This dress is gorgeous.” She liked how the spaghetti straps swept down to the low-cut neckline, showing the tops of her breasts. The soft material flowed over her curves that were a credit to yoga and running. She hadn’t been working out for no reason at all.

“Are you okay with me going to dad’s house for the weekend? Should I stay here and make sure you make it home okay?” Although Anna giggled, Cassie got the feeling her daughter wasn’t entirely teasing. Since her father had remarried, Anna had taken it upon herself to be her mother’s support system. As many times as Cassie had assured the teen that she was okay, Anna still didn’t seem to believe it. Cassie figured that Anna felt guilty for being a part of her father’s and Susan’s life together. Although Steven had done many things wrong in the marriage, Cassie wanted to focus on the things he did right. They had created their daughter who was an amazing, loving, beautiful child.

“No, you should go and visit. Soon you’ll have a baby brother or sister. You must be excited.”

Seeing her daughter’s downward stare, guilt slashed through Cassie. She’d never wanted her daughter to feel as if she had to worry about adult things. A sliver of Cassie wanted to reveal just how happy she’d been on vacation, but that could be opening a whole different can of worms. She and Sam weren’t an item and she didn’t want Anna to believe they were. In fact, Cassie had been vigilant about keeping herself hidden during the week so she wouldn’t accidentally run into him. The town was only so big and she’d found herself looking through the window of her office just to possibly catch a glimpse of the sexy doctor walking from his corner building. No words could describe how hard it was to have her temptation living so close and yet, she wasn’t allowed to indulge.

So, she kept not indulging in mind when she stepped inside the theater, but she hadn’t expected to share the elevator ride with the man who had occupied her every thought these days. He held the doors and stepped into the cubicle, raking his gaze from her roots to the tips of her toes ensconced in the slinky, three-inch heels. She hoped he didn’t see her flush when she noticed the bulge in his slacks. Why did they come together like strawberries and crème every time?

“You look amazing,” he said once the doors closed. His gaze lingered a little too long on her breasts. “Nice, uh, necklace.”

Clearing her throat, she scooted over, giving him room in the small space. “You look nice too.” She believed the man could wear a potato sack and still look hot. He was lethal in the designer tux.

He tugged at the lapel of his jacket, his smile growing. All that manliness wrapped up in a black jacket and his dark hair combed back in a sleek, distinguished style was almost too much. His blue eyes sparkled and his jaw was covered in a thin layer of beard. This was a different look than the man with disheveled hair and rumpled shorts that she’d known in paradise. She imagined he could pull off any style and look, especially this one. He could have stepped off a billboard for distinguished, beautiful doctor and right into Oakland. The man made her mouth water and her libido throb.

“How has your stay been in town?” she asked.

  “Lonely.”

“Do you wish you’d stayed in Chicago? You lived in a very nice, very rich, area of the city.”

“Oh, so you were interested enough to research me?”

The bell dinged and she closed her mouth on her answer. He allowed her to step out of the elevator first.

Many guests had already gathered in the ballroom. Heads turned and whispers were heard as she stepped into the room, the hem of her dress swishing at her ankles. She wondered if they were more shocked by her appearance or the fact that she was accompanied by the new doctor—the newly most wanted bachelor. Bryan had told her about the rumors among the single ladies in town. They were practically lining up at his door front with one ailment to another. In fact, while celebrating Cassie’s fortieth birthday party yesterday, Shelby, his new receptionist, had made it very clear that working so close to him made her uterus throb. As Mayor, she didn’t partake in the chatter, but she most certainly listened with a smile. She knew firsthand how good Sam’s moves were between the sheets. At times, she had to bite her tongue to keep her secret close.

When he pressed his hand against the small of her back, the thin material of her dress was no barrier against the heat of his touch. Her core trembled and she forced a breath of air into her parched lungs, making responding to greetings very difficult. She continued through the maze of people, stopping every now and again to say hello or answer a quick question. Party goers looked from her to Sam and back to her again, and she realized they must be thinking they came together. That detail both bothered and excited her. Honestly, he was a beautiful man with confidence that demanded attention, and because he was six feet two and had shoulders of a linebacker, those features only added to his power. There weren’t many places he could go without being noticed by men and women. He was the complete package. Yet there was a constant running rumor mill and she didn’t need the added stress. It took three years for the rumors of her divorce to finally fizzle, and soon she would be deciding whether she would run for a second term as mayor. Townspeople were watching. They were always creating lists in their minds of her pros and cons. Being a politician wasn’t what she’d gone to college for, and how she landed in the position she wasn’t quite sure. She’d wanted to make a difference she supposed.

“Can I get you a glass of wine?” Sam asked.

“No, I can’t,” she whispered, keeping her smile in place.

“You can’t drink? Is that against the rules too?”

She could practically hear the laughter in his tone. “I’m saying that people are going to get the wrong idea about you and me. I can’t have that.”

“I don’t think most of these people have the creativity to imagine what you and I shared. If only that office of yours had eyes.”

Biting back laughter, she realized he was probably right. Since being elected as mayor, she’d learned that people wanted their local government to be stuffy, whether
that was actual or not. She found herself losing more of herself daily as she tried to please the big shots around her. Tapping into her wilder side was taboo.

Steven had never been interested in trying new positions or new places to have sex. The craziest thing they’d ever done was have their honeymoon in Paris. She’d once suggested they go away, a place where nobody knew them, and start over while Anna was still young. That wasn’t possible because he’d wanted to stay where his uptight family lived. In fact, several of them were at the theater now.

Sam on the other hand, made her feel comfortable in her own body. Unraveled her senses in such a way that she was high on emotion.

“Now, about that drink…” he whispered close to her ear and his warm breath brushed her cheek.

“White wine, please.” She watched him saunter to the bar, every woman in his path turning and watching him pass. Staring intently, she didn’t realize she wasn’t standing alone.

  “New boyfriend?”

She swiveled around and almost knocked noses with Ben.

“You caught me off guard.” She cleared her throat.

“Sorry. You look beautiful tonight.” He smiled. Ben took her in with his gorgeous, dark eyes. He had been a friend of hers and Steven’s. When the divorce occurred, Ben chose sides and it wasn’t hers, although he’d deny that fact.

“I’m glad you could come tonight. I hope you brought your checkbook.”

“Of course. You know I always do. Looks like you have a good showing.” He leaned in. “But you didn’t answer me.”

“No, he’s not my boyfriend. He’s Oakland’s new doctor,” she murmured shyly. “Here he comes. I’ll introduce you two.” Accepting the glass of wine from Sam, she took a sip before doing what she’d promised. “Sam, this is Ben. He’s the prosecutor here in town.”

The two men shook hands and it was a silent battle of testosterone. Both were tall, broad-shouldered, and had the looks of models.
